so... moving is terribly stressful...isn't it?! here it is... my first 'official' day at my dream job [to you newbies, i've been juggling BIG time the last few years and i finally am able to do photography FULL time] and it's all stress, stress, stress. i shouldn't say my job is stressful, just what's happening around me. we move on friday and i'm scrambling to pack, throw in a few sessions, MAJOR strides to edit before my computer goes in a box... all the while trying to cure one of the dog's ear infection. gross. needless to say, blogger, we need a break. but fear not folks, it's not 'goodbye....' just 'see you soon." i'm working on a NEW blog [lots of work, but i gotta cut the cord on this guy] and a NEW house in a new place. can't hardly wait. : )

so imagine a couple of sweet sisters. [kaylee is the big sister, and charlee is the baby sister] reading a lovely book about a hippopotamus under a tree, temperature about 35 degrees on a Saturday morning. you're thinking, now, after looking at the images, "how in the world is that little girl ASLEEP on such a cold morning?!" well... the answer is that kaylee is the baby whisperer. not just a myth, folks! she shall be my new assistant with newborns when she's old enough. haha

WHAT A FABULOUS WEEKEND! the weather was absolutely dreary and cold....so needless to say a few things needed rescheduling... and i hopped in the car and got to spend the weekend with Ry in Lincoln. we went applicance shopping and had so much fun! seeing what's new in the culinary world... and what i haven't told you yet is that we bought a house last week in wahoo! it's cute, quaint, and ....um...we nicknamed it 'pink panther.' for obvious reasons...even the stove is bubble-gum pink. and yes.... it will be leaving and not coming back. pink is just about my least favorite color ever.

so things are coming together finally! it's getting real... and scary. GULP.

i had a birthday yesterday and it was different. ryan wasn't here to be the first to wish me 'happy birthday' [and he is ALWAYS the first to do that]. it made me sad, but i was soon happy because of all my facebook people, co-workers, and girlfriends made me feel oh-so birthday girl special. oh...and we bought a house! i got a cute little pink house for my birthday from wahoo. so thanks, everybody! turning 29 was pretty damn awesome. we celebrated with sushi last weekend at kona grill... mmmmmm. sushi.

no sushi for the men. they need beef. pounds and pounds of beef.

so.... funny story.

at a silent auction a few years ago, my sweet hubby was bidding on a romantic night out on the town. included was a hotel room, dinner out, some wine...and movie tickets.

at least that's what he thought he was bidding on...

in fact, he was bidding on this giant framed print of kearney landmarks. you should have seen his face when the lady brought it over to our table. great piece, just not our taste at all.

we've been living with it in the basement [where all our "cast offs" seem to land] but with all this packing and sorting going on, i thought 'enough is enough.' i had some other things to paint in the garage, so i decided to give new life to our auction mistake. : ) very easy.... just a couple purchases at the hardware store and viola! a place to stick thank- you notes, display inspiration magazine clippings, etc...

a good woman once told me to create a "feel-good" file. a go-to place on a day you feel sad....a place to stick thank-you notes, post-its, things that make you feel happy : ) genius.

this little strawberry blonde is like an angel. her complexion is so beautiful...and her eyes as blue as the sky. it was sooo cold on the day of their shoot...it was pretty fast and furious, but she enjoyed sitting on her grandma's rug and looking at mommy make goofy faces through the window. i love her chub rolls. : )

So this is a quote that one of my newest clients had included at the bottom of a recent email. I'm not going to lie...my eyes became flooded with tears of joy. I've been bursting with excitement, fear, worry...but mostly excitement for this news that's been held hostage at our house. News that is putting nearly every single dream of mine that I have ever had into reality. So here it is... one at a time...

number one: to move closer to home

Ryan (my husband) has accepted a lending position at Wahoo State Bank.
Wahoo is just an hour North of our hometown.

number two: renovate an old house

We have our eye on several on the market in Wahoo.
number three: fill it with babies
NOT yet.... but hopefully someday soon.

number four: get to do what I was born to do all day, everyday.

PHOTOGRAPHY. FULL. TIME.

Ryan starts in Wahoo Wednesday and I'm still here and working the two jobs until our home sells.... so watch the blog for updates and developements on our exciting new life!

I've added a new package for you love birds out there, too!.... an engagement session/bridal portrait session combo. I'm really excited about it! I love capturing couples in love.... especially in their wedding attire. It's great to have a session after you wedding, too. A- you get to wear your wedding dress again! yipppeee! B- you don't have the stress involved with your wedding to mess with C- your dress is already worn, so no worries going into the woods and looking beautiful.

So watch here for my news and updates about my calendar opening in Spring. Exciting things are in store for 2011! And uber anxious to travel to Texas for a workship in April. Hope your holiday plans are shaping up nicely. : )

I was about to toss Sunshine Bear into his final resting place in the trash (the dogs have pretty much had their way with him) and I stopped and looked into his eyes (where his eyes used to be, anyway) and thought to myself "huh. I know how you feel little guy." I feel like Sunshine Bear is a metaphor for my year. Scruffy, worn, exhausted, but smiling.

I feel like I managed my time pretty well---- life is always a balancing act, but being a wife, a good daughter and friend, a full time rad tech, a home owner with a house for sale, president of Jaycees, secretary of PEO, on various other committees throughout the year, and a passionate photographer... has really taken it out of me by this month. Maybe I'm just feeling sappy and sentimental because it's Christmastime.... but I feel so blessed to have returning clients, a thriving business starting and a very understanding and supportive husband. To YOU all I owe my thanks. Thank you very much for the kind words you send me, understanding for my hectic calendar, and for your referrals. It means the world to me : ) Thank you for letting me pursue my dreams----and I really felt terrible that I could not fit everyone in my busy schedule. I really really hope you keep watching the blog this Spring/Summer and I get a chance to photo you all one day. Blog posts slow down this time of year... but fear not. I have some ideas up my sleeve for some good things to share. Including a new look for my site!

coulda used an assistant

There are a lot of reasons i could have used an assistant this day. 1. for Mabel the dog. Very cute and lovable, but severely ADHD. 2. For Thomas. Case in point--- the photo where he's holding the black cat wearing his white shirt. and 3. The more the merrier! We laughed a LOT! Always room for another Newton! This is my Uncle Mike and his fam. I stayed a lot longer as intended...planning on only a quick trip to Bradshaw and back... BUT Jenni gave me her puppy dog eyes and asked if I'd "help go through this one closet...." I am thinking to myself... "Sure.. that'd be quick. I can do that."

.......six hours later..... 4 closets later.... we had heaps and mounds of clothes in the donation pile and we actually found a diaper deep within. (Yeah... Thomas is 8 now and way past potty training). Glad I could help out : ) and it inspired me to go shopping! like I need a reason.)

My Aunt Judy and Uncle Don live only a couple blocks away. We're over there ALL the time. It's very very nice to have them so close. Especially back in college when we need a place to clean our clothes : ) And p.s...... they've been married for 39 years!

My Thanksgiving was so relaxing [full of travel], but relaxing. I ate roast beef instead of turkey, I had 3 pieces of pie, and my weight in mashed potataoes and gravy. These little girls---Keeley and Kambryn---totally melted my heart. See--they were both chosen for our ALT Creations model shoot in October so I first met them there. After we were done and cleaning up, I was sitting sorting my hats and they ran up to me and sat right on my lap. I could hug them and kiss them and squeeze them all day long. Katie---how do you ever get anything done around the house?! You make WAY too cute of babies. If you ever need a sitter...call me!

This session was to put Molly on the map... at the K family household at least. You see... her older brothers are quite photogenic, I hear. So photogenic that there house is filled with photos of them. (not to mention the fact that they both recently graduated). So poor Molly seems non-exsistant. Not anymore! SO glad it's Friday. This has been such a long week....late nights at the clinic, which is to be expected... it's still football season..... I feel like I haven't seen Ry in, like, a month! I miss him and he's just in the next room. But this weekend will be fun. I scheduled myself some downtime. Sad that it has to be scheduled in, but that's the way it goes!

I said it during our session and I'll say it again. Heidi has a 60's mod vibe about her that I just am in lovvee with. Maybe it's her bangs or her lashes? I'd love to see her in a Mary Tyler Moore-type cape pea coat and a muff or something downtown. Then it would start to snow and I'd have my camera and we would take glorious photos. My camera would even stay dry. Who am I kidding?! That's just a fantasy for now. I dream up crazy ideas.... only 10% of my ideas for photoshotos actually materialize because I'm so busy all the time....but I can wish. : ) Heidi-- you are drop-dead gorgeous.

What a long, terrible Monday it was. Oh boy. Not the king mother of all Mondays.... but it made the naughty list. Glad I'm finally home and can unwind in front of the computer. You're thinking more work, right? Actually--- it's my favorite time of day. Mellow music on--- sleeping dogs at my feet. Nerd glasses. Very excited about the big model shoot yesterday, too! The purpose of the blog is to showcase my work in hopes of attracting new clients. normally.

THIS post is definately to show off my big accomplishment rather than advertise...I really struggled with "to post?" or "not to post?" But darn it! Weddings are so much work... hours and hours of sorting, editing.... Main reasons why I choose to say no to dozens of brides. But one lovely summer evening I actually said yes to a bride and groom, whom I know and love. Thank you, Chad and Jes, for trusting me with your day. It was a day filled with grace, excitement, and love and I feel very blessed to have been even a small part of it! From Jes's salon brunch in the morning to cigars on the balcony. And all your tall friends! (Chad played basketball for UNK and at least half the guests were 6'0" and over!) Thank you, Ashly, for your help, Aunt Brenda for letting us take over your beautiful home, and to my Canon 5D Mark ii. I couldn't have done it without you.

So her mama is Mona. Ahh...where do I begin?! Mona is a photographer in Omaha...a fabulous one at that! We are totally on the same wavelength and we'll often spend an hour on the phone talking shop while we both edit frantically, simultaneously. It is so comforting to know that there are others out there just like you with the same joys, frustrations, even just tech support. Anyway...I'm rambling now. I heart you, Mona, and I'm literally dying to know what you think. Don't leave me hanging.

Quinn, on the other hand..... well.... I had about 5 minutes... which I think is about 4.5 minutes longer than Mona usually gets. So I consider it a successful photoshoot. Quinn was an assistant to her mother on our photoshoot. : ) Wierd to have our picture taken for a change. I'll post those when they are finished. I had a great time in Omaha! Got to cuddle with our bff's new baby girl and experience what it's like to co-habitat with a 7-week old. hmmmm....... it was....different. Amazing to see them with a child. Parenthood really does change you--- but in a great way. Pics on that later! Lots and lots of pics to post from the weekend....when I finally get to them. haha Very excited though.

So tonight at my session I saw a flock (?) of turkeys...smelled a fire burning (which is just ONE of my all time favorite smells), and felt the leaves crunch under my rocket dogs. Fall is definately here and I adore every minute of it.

Charlie Brown finally has hair and can walk and likes to play in the dirt. I love watching his family interact with him. They just study Brooks...waiting for him to do something cute.
